Dear Colleagues and Friends,<\/p>\n

This is to invite you to the 16th Annual Convention of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines to be held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila on February 4-5, 2009.<\/p>\n

The theme for the 2009 Annual Convention will be \u201cPediatric Infectious Disease Scenarios: Unraveling the Complexities\u201d. Distinguished local speakers will unravel the complexities of different issues on infectious diseases like Ca-MRSA and ESBL-producing organisms, use of rapid diagnostic tests, fever in the office practice as well as FUO, clinical scenarios in TB, antibiotic use, bloody stools, and vaccine safety.<\/p>\n

A state-of \u2013the- art lecture on Tuberculosis will be delivered by Dr. Rosalinda Soriano, the founding president of PIDSP. Dr. Siripen Kalayanarooj from Thailand will likewise highlight the event with a lecture on the changing trends in the diagnosis and treatment in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The convention will culminate with a meet-the expert session on DHF and Meningitis.<\/p>\n

My sincerest appreciation to the Scientific committee headed by Dr. Gyneth G. Bibera for coming up with an excellent program and to the members of the organizing committee for all their unselfish contributions to the success of this event.<\/p>\n
